So many pictures to post... I think that I am going to post them in a series...
This summer has proved EXTREMELY successful for the shop that I work in. Our weddings are up almost 2 fold and we are still rockin'! I'm loving every minute of it, but I feel badly that I've neglected you all! However, I'm back in full force for the winter... And here to answer any and all questions to the best of my ability!
Here are some to get your interest piqued! Enjoy!
I plan on posting more pictures soon... I also have pictures of my boyfriend's best friend's wedding that I did this past weekend and some from our photo shoot with Grace Ormonde!
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

I haven't had too many weddings of my own in the past couple of weeks... Actually I had one this weekend and forgot to take pictures of my work... It was simple - roses and calla lilies...nothing too crazy... I have a two weddings this coming weekend - one on 7.6 and one on 7.7... Our store has 5 weddings all together! Carrrrrrrazzzzy!
Here is some work that I've helped the other two wedding designers with... My construction, but their recipies....One of the weddings is my recipe and design...

Bridal bouquet consisting of Virgina roses, peach stock, white posy calla lilies, and white freesia... It also included sea shells! :-D

Closer shot of the same bouquet.

I kept the handle very simple since the bouquet was more elaborate.

This was the bridesmaid's bouquet for the same wedding... The girls wore dresses in the same color as the handle wrap with a sea blue sash. They were SO pretty. Bouquet consists of green hydrangea, peach (Monet) calla lilies, and peach stock...sea shells were also included.

Close up of the same bouquet.

The bridal bouquet from the pick up wedding I did a couple of weeks ago. Consists of only Black Magic Roses... It looks shiny because I had just sprayed it with preservative...

The handle of the same bouquet... Pretty. :-D
So, this weekend I did a super girly bouquet for one of my boss's weddings... I corsetted the handle with rhinestones down the back of the handle... I'm so ticked I forgot to photograph it! Hopefully she'll send us pictures!!!
Look for more after this weekend - we've got a lot going on!

Here are the pictures from the wedding I did this past Saturday! (6.9.07) My shop also did 2 other weddings that day, but they obviously weren't ones I booked and it was so busy that I didn't do any work on the others at all... Although you will see a shot in here of my boss wrapping the bridal BQT from the owner's wedding because she got in my SHOT!!!
Off we gooo....

A straight on shot of the bride's BQT. It consisted of a base of Escimo roses and Israeli ruscus with hot pink and light pink Gerbera daisies "floating" over them. It was collared with Israeli ruscus and the stems wrapped and braided with white chiffon. Some stems were left exposed at the bottom.

Another view of the bridal BQT... I love the depth you can see in this shot!

A better view of the braid. :-D My speciality!

A straight on shot of the maid of honor's BQT. The bridesmaids carried a slightly small version of this BQT. It consists of a base of Attache roses and Israeli ruscus and again has the two shades of Gerbera daisies "floating". The stems were wrapped in chocolate brown taffeta left over from the girl's dresses. I LOVE all the contrast in this bouquet!

Another shot of the MOH's BQT. :-D

Both the bride and groom's mother carried this small clutch of 3 ivory Gerbera daisies. It was accented with Israeli ruscus and an ivory chiffon bow.

The flower girls all carried pomanders (or kissing balls as they are more popularly known)... They consisted of Escimo roses and the same two shades of Gerbera daisies. (You can see another pomander in the background from one of the other weddings!)

A shot of all of the pomanders for my wedding. :-D

The shot my boss jumped in... She is wrapping a bridal bouquet of blue hydrangea, cymbidium orchids, and freesia.

Ditto! After this I gave up taking shots of my altar pieces in the shop...

The vase for the place card table... A mix of the colors of Gerbera daisies seen in her wedding and various greens.

All of my boutonniere shots came out INCREDIBLY out of focus... But this was the groom's to match the bride's BQT... Escimo rose accented with hypericum berries, and eucalyptus. I finish all of my boutonniere's with black ribbon.

For the fathers to match the mothers... The same as above minus the berries.

The best man and groomsmen's boutonniere to match the girls... Attache rose with eucalyptus accent.

For some reason, churches never photograph well with my camera and I can't figure it out... But anyway, here is a shot of the pew bows... She wanted to keep the church simple as not to clash with the beautiful TEAL walls...

The altar pieces... All white consisting of Gerbera daisies, Escimo roses, and hydrangea... I also used curly willow for more height.

A closer shot...

An even closer one... I liked these....

The head table was simply scattered with MASSES of rose petals with votives placed throughout... I used 3 shades of petals to obtain this look and LOTS AND LOTS of them!!!

A closer shot of the head table... I wish they didn't do the napkins this way... Eh...

The place card table... It was definitely cute and VERY girly...

Her centerpieces were simply the three colors of Gerbera daisies floating in water with rose petals and smaller votives scattered around... NOTE TO BRIDES: THIS is why colored table cloths are a bad idea... This centerpiece would have POPPED off the table if it had white or ivory linens... And once everyone takes those WHITE napkins out of their holders and starts throwing them on the table, it's going to look a mess. One way to avoid this is by tone on tone linens or not having AS much contrast in the colors... Also, coffee cups should not be placed on the table until after dinner. :-D

Closer shot of the centerpiece...
Hope everyone liked the shots! If you have any questions or comments, of course feel free! I love all your commentary, input, and questions!
I have one small wedding this weekend, but the store is doing FIVE... So look forward to some more pretty fleurs!

I am hoping that I will have time to post all the pictures from the wedding I did this past weekend tomorrow... It came out beautifully!
Tonight, however, I have two wedding proposals to write up!
G'night!

G'night!
As much as I don't want to have to say this...
I have to tell you all that I will not give lessons, tips, or any education pertaining to HOW TO CONSTRUCT bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, etc... I have spent YEARS learning what I know and it is an ever changing and growing process. I will never stop learning and I PRIDE myself on what I already do know and the work that I do. It's a passion, love, and dedication. In a word, it is my LIFE. Color, composition, structure, texture... I live and breathe this. It is what drives me.
I will however, be MORE than happy to give any other advice you may need. Etiquette, color suggestions, bouquet ideas... You name it...just so long as it isn't a question on how to MAKE something.
I can't believe the warm welcome I have already received on LJ!!! I love that everyone has so many questions and how educated a lot of you on you basic flower info that most people DON'T know! I wish more of my customers were as educated you guys!
With that said, I hope I didn't upset anyone! I love being here and sharing my knowledge with all of you! :-D

Here are some of the remaining random arrangement I have from the past year. I can't wait to start updating more often with NEW WORK! So many great weddings coming up that I can't wait to share!
But for now...

This arrangement went out for the birth of a baby boy... Bells of Ireland, iris, oriental lilies, roses, and caspia.

Not my style, but the shape and composition was fantastic in my eyes... Cool water roses, carnations, daisies, and wax flower.

I believe I sent this out for an anniversary... Consists of stock, snapdragons, roses, wax flower, and curly willow.

It's an awful quality picture, but a more contemporary arrangement of leukedendron, Avant Garde roses (one of my favorites!!!), posy calla liles, and dendrobium orchids.

A basket I made for a funeral awhile ago... Gerbera daisies, sunflowers, iris, roeses, and asiatic liles,

Foam heart made for a funeral... Blue bird roses, heather, carnations, iris, roses, waxflower, and green dendrobium orchids.

A hanging spray I made to match the previous piece... Most of the same flowers were used.
Goodness, I need to dust off my camera and start photographing more of my work. :-D
Soon enough!

This past weekend I did a bridal shower at a local country club... The flowers were simple, but came out beautifully...
The base was filled with Jelly Bellies... And consists of roses and green buttons. Took me about 3 weeks to talk the lady out of using tulips in June. Even if I could get them, who knows the quality I would have received.
That's all for now!
As a teaser, I thought that I would post some of my old wedding work! I've only included my favorite bouquets from last season as I am going to be posting much more soon!
<lj-cut text="Gorgeous fleurs under here!">

This bridal bouquet was created for a petite bride who wanted a classic and clean look. It consists of Freedom roses, stephanotis, and Israeli ruscus. The handle is treated with white chiffon.

This bouquet was inspired by another designer and created by myself. It includes ivy, cymbidium orchids, and dendrobium orchids.

This was actually a prom bouquet. The girl it was ordered for loved different and funky designs, so I created this bouquet of mango posy calla lilies, roses, aspidistra, and curly willow... One of my favorite prom bouquets, EVER!

This simple hand tied bridal bouquet contains white hydrangea, pink lisianthus, and posy calla lilies.

This is the maids' bouquet to the above bridal bouquet. It is made of pink lisianthus, mini hydrangea, and posy calla lilies.

This was the first wedding bouquet of the 2007 season! It wasn't for a wedding I booked, but I got to make them and this maids' bouquet contains bouvardia, roses, lisianthus, and cymbidium orchids.

Another favorite! I made this just messing around one day. It contains pin cushin protea, Dorit roses, posy calla lilies, and plumosa. The handle was covered with an aspidistra leaf.

A view of the handle of the previous bouquet. The bouquet was also collared in orange chiffon.

My favorite bouquet of last fall. This bridal bouquet consists of Leonidas roses, hypericum berries, mango posy calla lilies, chocolate cymbidium orchids, and asclepia.

Another bridal favorite consisting of mango and purple posy calla lilies, pink Dorit roses, pink roses, and cymbidium orchids.

A great traditional hand tied bridal bouquet containing Freedom roses, Escimo roses, lisianthus, and stephanotis.

Well, for my first post, I just wanted to introduce myself...
I am a 22 year old floral artist living in the beautiful (but small!) state of Rhode Island. I have been designing flowers for two and a half years now and have been loving every minute of it. One of my favorite aspects of the floral industry is working with brides and grooms to give them a beautiful and memorable day...
I have decided to start this journal to give a peak into my world and my work... As summer is the busiest time of year for wedding work, you can expect new wedding work being posted often, but I will hopefully be able to have time to fill in here and there with fun facts and interesting work that I do outside of the wedding world.
Enjoy your stay and thanks for visiting!
